Fall is here, Redding kids photography

Taken 11-8-09. I took my nieces & nephew on a trip to the park as the sun started to fall so we had a limited amount of time before the sun went away. I have forgotten what it's like to have a 3 year old & Kenzie reminded me of how they can't stand still for more than a second. Sam enjoyed a new hat of mine (stating AHHHHH, when I asked for it back) & Trevor had fun coming up with photo opportunities everywhere we went. This session was all about letting them have fun & that's definitely what we all did.
Fall is not complete without throwing colorful leaves up in the air & letting them fall all around you. So, we did. Kenzie could only get a little handful so I had Sam & Trevor throw more up for her.
These two pics were my fav of Kenzie, the one above where she's constantly on the move & the one below where she was calm enough to let me take one just before we left.
At the end of the photo session, they played on the playground, then we walked single file to the car (yeah, right). I couldn't get Kenzie to stand still for nothing but I expect that of a 3 year old. I try not to do too much posing with her cause she is off in literally seconds to another part of the park before I can shoot the picture. But I waited patiently and she rewarded me with that great pose above. You guys did great & thanks for the fun day.

"We Are Family..."

Taken 11-6-09. These are my nieces & nephew. We had some fun with this little photo session so they could have updated pictures. I had so many fav pics, I couldn't choose so I included a bunch.
This is their puppy M.J. She was such a good girl during all of this but she was nervous too. I love pets & no real family photo is complete without the pets although I didn't add their two cats, OOOPS
Sam is in High School. She is growing up very fast.
I love the aged photo effect I created in the next pic.
This sunflare was generated in Photoshop but turned out really cool.
Trevor had his "girlfriend" over so he was looking as cool as he could for these photos, he already wears his hair the way his girlfriend likes and that cracked me up.
They even put on their Halloween costumes. As you will see...Trevor was my fav for posing with his swords.
Little Red Riding Hood made an appearance at the backyard playset but I have never seen anyone cuter than Kenzie. Did I mention she's also my Nike hat model. GIRL POWER
Can't hardly see M.J. in this picture but I had fun with the high ISO. We will be going to the park soon for more fun pics so I'll get to have more fun in natural light. They are all so cute so just like the pictures, I could never choose a favorite.

My Nike Model

This is my niece Kenzie. She has become my new Nike hat model ...it could happen. I bought some new hats for props & she fell in love with this one. Of course it's pink so it's my fav too. She is so cute & I had soooo much fun capturing all her cute modeling faces. When we were picking out this outfit, I kept saying each item was "fabulous" & how much fun it would be to put them all together. The hat finished the outfit. She had a blast, how often does a little girl get to wear a dress, jeans, Tinkerbell shirt & a pink beanie for pictures. I will be showing pics of her brother & sister next.
She is my little Nike model. These two are two of my favs.
Isn't she SOOOOOO cute, I think she looks like Aunt Kim ...it could happen :)

Homework, Matt

I had a major change of plans due to me being sick so I wasn't able to do some sessions due to that. I'm so much better now & can concentrate on hoping for a visit to Oregon to see my newborn great niece Andrea after Thanksgiving. So, before each session, I review my settings on my camera, write down ideas for that specific family or individual & review my many books regarding exposure, lighting, etc so I'm not so nervous during the session. I have been doing my homework for over a month now regarding newborn photography. It's like I'm back in school. Honestly, I feel you can never know everything about photography so I keep buying books & learning all I can. Anyways, I volunteer at Matt's school as a photographer for the yearbook. This is my first year of doing this & it was Matt's idea (which touched my heart). I felt it fitting to show a picture of him in his class. He is sure growing up & will be in Jr. High next year, OMG!!! Where did all the time go. I'm lucky to get him in any pictures...as soon as I pull out my camera, he makes it clear he's not there to pose by ducking, grabbing something to cover his face, running into his room, etc but I sure feel very blessed for the few pictures he does ask for. I love this little boy...Ok, I mean big boy...I mean cool dude. He is my true "Gift from God". I'll be doing another posting soon of my nieces & nephew in Redding that I took yesterday.
